Just for you – Lingerie Event

December 14th, 2007 – Charlottetown, PEI – The bestofpei Store invites the public to attend the “Just for You – Lingerie Event. New date added! We are taking bookings for February 9 and 23rd. The event begins at 11:00am and ends at 5:00pm. Marsha Arsenault of DF Creations will be on hand to take measurements, and fit you for a custom-made bra.

Arsenault started her business in January 2007. What started as a quest to find the right fitting bra, combined with a passion for sewing, resulted in the start of her new business, DF Creations. Arsenault started sewing at the age of nine, making her first dress, and has continued sewing over the years for weddings and other special occasions. A widowed mother, Arsenault waited until her daughter graduated from university before embarking on further education. At the International Academy of Design in Toronto, she took fashion design, with the idea of eventually starting her own business.

Arsenault tells us, “It is so important to have a properly fitting bra, not just for comfort but for health reasons. Too often people will tell health care professionals about back problems only to learn that their bra wasn't supportive enough and was causing the problem. Another difficulty women have is that if you aren't the perfect fit for standard sizes, such as, women with one shoulder too high or who have had mastectomy, it is nearly impossible to get a properly fitting bra.”  When Arsenault couldn't find what she wanted in a bra, she started searching and found a bra maker supplier in Hamilton, Ontario. She decided to take a road trip and, while visiting the supply company discovered that they were holding a bra-making class and had one seat left. Arsenault will tell you, “it was serendipity; everything just fell into place.”

Arsenault will be at the bestofpei Store January 24th bringing samples of some lingerie, fabric samples, plus her measuring tools for bra cups and a bridge sizing. Ladies can make an appointment with the store by calling 368-8835 or emailing info@bestofpei.com to have their measurements taken that night. A private room will be supplied for those having measurements taken, with each appointment lasting 15-20 minutes. Arsenault will also provide matching panties for the bras, stretch lace camisoles, robes, and nightgowns. In future, she hopes to offer bathing suits.  Asked what makes her unique, Arsenault responded, “Where else can you get a custom fit bra, made with fabric you chose yourself? Women with special needs will definitely appreciate the service.”
